Seventy kilometers from the central area of Conghua district, Xiaoshan village of Lutian town sits next to Liuxi River and Xiaoshan Reservoir, and covers approximately 13.5 sq km.

The village has 88 mu(58,667 sq m) of farming land and 23,000 mu(15.33 sq km)of forest coverage. Its main farming products are plum, Citrus Shatangju, ginger and bamboo.

The Guangdong(Guangzhou) Pumped Storage Power Plant is located in the village. In the mountains, there is a relic site of a iron ore mine from over 400 years ago in the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644), and a thousand-year-old courier road connecting Guangzhou with Huizhou that spans 3 to 4 km.

In 2019, Lutian town raised 17.81 million yuan($2.75 million) to invest in Xiaoshan for the purpose of developing a greater township with local characteristics, distinctive industries, substantive culture, great environment, tourism community features and innovative mechanisms, and of capitalizing on the four elements of "industry, culture, scenery and community".
