Lianma is a mountainous village in Lyutian town, Conghua district. To its north is Xinfeng county in Shaoguang city. It covers an area of 40 square kilometers and its mountain forests total 53,500 mu(35.67 sq km). The local forest coverage rate reaches 89 percent.

There are 424 households with a population of 1,582 in 11 economic cooperatives in the village.

The G105 national highway passes through Lianma. It is only five kilometers between the village and the nearby interchange of Daqing-Guangzhou Expressway. It is the last village in the north of Guangzhou to connect the Pearl River Delta region with northern Guangdong, Hunan and Jiangxi provinces.

Lianma used to rely heavily on the plantation of specialty fruits such as plums and mandarin oranges as its major income source in the past. However, it has now successfully developed homestay businesses, liquor production, liquor inns, tea houses and tofu stores on the basis of rich local resources like the Liuxi River, ecological culture, revolutionary culture, and liquor culture.

Local vacant houses with traditional elements, which total nearly 3,000 square meters, have been transformed into 25 homestay inns, 58 liquor stores, 30 bee-breeding parks, six tea houses, three tofu shops, and a bean jelly store. About 123 households have benefited a great deal from these business operations.
