Despite the fading of the lychee harvest season, Conghua's lychee mooncakes came into season.

As a major lychee production base in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province, Conghua district is pioneering a new way to further boost its lychee industry, by launching mooncakes in conjunction with the coming of Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on the 15th  day of the eighth lunar month in the Chinese lunar calendar.

Bearing the fruity aroma of lychee with a strong tasting lychee pulp, the mooncake tastes neither too greasy, nor too sweet, and was well received at a tasting event on Aug 25. The delicate taste is the result of relentless efforts of the developer to control the baking temperature and maintain the fruity aroma, as well as rigorous ingredient development to help balance the sweetness.

Conghua has developed a full lychee processing industrial chain that tops the Guangdong province in scale. The processed lychee products range from dried lychee and lychee wine, to lychee champagne, pastry, yogurt, black tea and mooncakes. The district houses over 30 lychee processing enterprises and cooperatives with an annual processing capacity of 15,000 tons, with a processing rate of over 35 percent. This year, about 23,000 tons of lychees were used for processed products, which has largely increased the added-value of the fruit.
