As its lychee varieties reaching full maturity in mid June, Conghua district of Guangzhou, the capital city of South China's Guangdong province, is working all out to sell its star fruit.

Diverse measures, including upgrading the lychee customization campaign, expanding online sales channels and platforms, and enhancing partnerships with major logistics companies, were made to boost the sales.

Conghua sub-branch of China Construction Bank (CCB), one of China's main State-owned banks,  launched a lychee sales program on its online platform on June 10. The first day witnessed almost 300 orders for a total of over 1,000 kilograms of the Liuxi Guiwei lychee variety. Almost 2,500 kg of Conghua lychees have already been sold on the platform.

The sub-branch also opened a green channel for loan approvals to lychee processing enterprises, cutting the review time from generally a month down to about 5 days. To date, about 10 million yuan ($ 1.56 million) loans has been approved and delivered to a lychee processing enterprise.

College students also took part in selling Conghua lychees. Beginning in March, a lychee customization marketing campaign was launched in all the nine colleges in Conghua. The college students performed as live streaming hosts to promote lychee products from Conghua. The district's agriculture and rural affairs bureau organized a lychee-themed promotion event. The colleague students participated in the event by making lychee-related videos, which not only promote lychee sales but also local history and culture.

Moreover, online sales channels are broader this year, with further partnerships with major e-commerce platforms such as Tmall and Pinduoduo, as well as other platforms such as WeChat stores and mini-apps having been established. Meanwhile, local cooperatives are providing lychee farmers with logistics services to stimulate sales. Partnerships with major logistics companies such as SF Express, JDL, Deppon Express and EMS have also been enhanced to secure smooth supply chains for lychee sales.
