Conghua Radio & TV Network established to boost construction of rural revitalization demonstration zone

Conghua Radio & TV Network Co Ltd was officially established on June 28, marking the basic completion of media convergence reform in Conghua district of Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province.

The company is engaged with businesses such as cable TV transmission, broadband network related services, radio & TV advertisements, and video productions and event planning and execution. Its service covers all 274 villages in the district, with 83,000 households of cable TV and broadband users.

As a State-owned enterprise, it will boost digital rural construction and serve as a strong support for building the district into a demonstration zone for rural revitalization both at national and provincial levels.

In March, Guangzhou's first pilot 5G base station purposed for rural revitalization and jointly built by Conghua Radio & TV Network and Guangzhou Digital Media Group, started operation in Luodong Craftsman Town, a characteristic town in Conghua district.

The construction of 5G application scenarios development which allows it to provide intelligent functions such as 4K ultra high definition real-time panoramic monitoring, face recognition, and statistics on passenger and traffic flow was carried out at the same time, according to the company staff, who add that the application scenario can be customized based on the work requirements in the town and can provide smart services over nearly 30 fields, such as epidemic prevention and control at scenic spots, ticket analysis and weather forecasts and alerts.

After completed business registration on March 4, the Conghua Radio & TV Network has played a role in ensuring safe and stable radio and TV transmission during the fight against COVID-19, which resurged in Guangdong in May. It distributed pandemic related news from national, provincial, municipal and district levels in a timely manner. Workforces were established to provide stable TV signals at the quarantine area in the district so that the people in quarantine could have access to cable TV programs. The company also helped to facilitate the functioning of online education platforms so students could receive online classes during the school break due to the pandemic.

In addition, the company held a series of Party history learning contests which were reported by major news outlets such as Xinhua, Nanfang Daily and Guangzhou Daily. A film screening team was set up as well to go to the grassroots communities to play Red movies for locals. To date over 500 movies have been shown.
