Southern Medicine Town covers Getang and Liantang villages in full, with a total planned area of 15.67 square kilometers. It is situated in the northwest of Taiping Town of Conghua district, to the east of Huadu district, 15 km south of the center of Conghua, 15 km north of Baiyun International Airport, and approximately 40 km to downtown Guangzhou.
The town is easily accessible with a well-established transport system consisting of the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, the Daqing-Guangzhou Expressway, and interchage to the Jiebei Expressway, the G105 national highway and the S118 provincial highway.
Boasting exceptional ecological resources, the town is adjacent to a forest homestay Boya Mansion specializing in thousand-year eaglewood and a featured restaurant at the Xingfu Liantang Mansion.
The town also has a solid farming industry featuring litchi, longan, lemon, and dragon fruit plantations. It has also established a mature southern medicine industry led by the Lingnan Chinese Medicine Culture Expo Park.
A special restaurant featuring medicinal food has been launched to offer more culinary options for tourists and to create new income and job opportunities for local residents.
In recent years, Getang and Liantang have prioritized development of southern medicine with the support of the government. An industrial system for plantation, research, culture and tourism has been set up, including a national-level education base for Chinese medicine culture -- the Lingnan Chinese Medicine Culture Expo Park. Overall, a Chinese medicine culture focusing on southern medicine has been formed.
