As the signature product of Shangluo village in the Conghua district of Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, persimmons are seeing a good harvest in early September this year.

Almost every household in the village grows persimmons. From the end of August through the end of November, villagers go uphill to harvest persimmons from their orchards at dawn every day, transport them downhill and sell them to purchasers. This year's output is about the same as last year's, but the villagers are happy to see that the fruit is selling at a higher price.

Shangluo is surrounded by mountains. No pollution, good water quality and large temperature differences between day and night all contribute to the premium quality of the persimmons that are grown there.

Right now is the peak season for harvesting persimmons. There are about 30 purchase stations in the village with a daily intake of over 50,000 kilograms. Many of them are sold to the Pearl River Delta region. E-commerce is used to boost these sales.
