Conghua district of Guangzhou, the capital of South China's Guangdong province, has formed an interwoven transportation network that facilitates its urban-rural integrated development.

The launch of the metro system in Conghua in 2018 brought it closer to Guangzhou and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and now the launch and completion of multiple highway projects concerning Conghua are expected to further boost such integration and bringing it to a higher level.

Conghua-Huangpu Highway

Having started construction in October 2020, the Conghua-Huangpu Highway project is a key part of the northern main transport line of the GBA. The project is 61.71 kilometers long and has been divided into two construction phases. The first phase starts in Taiping town of Conghua and will end at Changling street in Huangpu district, Guangzhou.

Expected to be completed in 2023, the project will help further connect the highway network of the GBA. The highway runs through the south of Conghua and will better connect Conghua with central Guangzhou, and serve as key support in urban-rural integrated development and regional development.

Guangzhou-Lianzhou Highway

The ongoing project of the Guangzhou-Lianzhou Highway starts in Aotou town in Conghua and will end in Lianzhou city of Central China's Hunan province, with a total length of 235 kilometers. As a key part in planning of the Guangdong highway network, it serves the building of Guangzhou into an international business center and a comprehensive transportation hub, and will relieve the traffic pressure of the Guangzhou-Lechang Expressway, the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, and the ring line of the Pearl River Delta.

Guangzhou-Lianzhou Highway is of great significance when it comes to boosting the economy in north Guangdong, and will realize the complementary advantages and common development of northern Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta, while also supporting the development of the GBA.

Huizhou-Qingyuan Highway

With a total length of 125.28 kilometers, of which the Conghua section is about 30 kilometers, the Huizhou-Qingyuan Highway that passes through Conghua has opened to traffic.

It is an important, horizontal and fast transportation channel between the east and west wings of Guangdong and the northern Pearl River Delta, and is also a key east-west channel in the transition zone between the Pearl River Delta and the mountainous areas of northern Guangdong.

"One bridge two roads"

As a key part of Conghua's transportation network, the "one bridge two roads" - which refers to Conghua Bridge, Conghua Avenue and Beixing Road - has opened to traffic.

Conghua Avenue is the main road that runs from the north to the south of Conghua. Beixing Road is a secondary road that runs from the east to the west of Conghua.

Conghua Avenue runs south to Jiebei highway and north to Beixing Road, which connects Conghua downtown to outside world. Externally, it can also reach the downtown areas of Guangzhou via the Jiebei Highway and the Daqing-Guangzhou Expressway. Internally, it has opened up the "capillaries" along the line and has solved traffic congestion in the old town area.

The "one bridge two roads" pattern also expands and connects the tourist spots, forming a scenic corridor in Conghua for its integrated development.
