6th Guangzhou Xitang Straw Arts season opens

Six projects with a total of 2.87 billion yuan ($450.55 million) of intended investment were signed at the 6th Guangzhou Xitang Straw Arts season opened on Nov 13 in Conghua district of Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province.
Since 2016, Aotou town of Conghua has hosted Straw Arts season annually in a bid to promote integrated tourism in the areas of agriculture, culture and study tours, which has attracted over 2 million visitors and generated an income of over 50 million yuan.

This year's event will last from Nov 13 to Lantern Festival, which falls in mid-February next year. There will be more diversified events on comprehensive topics such as farming culture, intangible cultural heritage and legal civilization.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Aotou has been striving to balance epidemic prevention and socioeconomic development. Inviting investment is one of its top priorities in implementing the rural revitalization strategy.

At the opening ceremony, a group signing ceremony was held between Aotou and six enterprises for investment in the areas of modern agriculture, airport industry and intelligent manufacturing. 

Over the years, by taking advantage of the opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area construction and trial zone construction of urban-rural integrated development, Aotou has welcomed 30 renowned enterprises, such as Suning, Liby, and Star River Group. It also has a world-class boar seed gene bank, the largest layer chicken industrial park in Asia and the first plant factory in Guangdong.
