A modern layer chicken ranch in Conghua district was named one of the 15 modernized beautiful ranches in Guangdong in 2021, according to a recent release by Guangdong's Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Located in Aotou town in Conghua of Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province, the ranch belongs to a Conghua-based biotechnology company which is mainly engaged with the production and sales of layer chickens and eggs, boasting a full industrial chain spanning breeding, processing, sci-tech innovation research and development, as well as sales. 

The company plays a leading role in the building of a layer chicken industrial park in the district which is a provincial-level modern agricultural industrial park, into a full chain industrial park that provides premium quality eggs and processed egg products to the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA). 

In terms of quality control, the ranch has its own veterinarian facilities to meet the basic needs of self assessment. It has established an advanced information management system to monitor the whole production process. It has also hired qualified certification institutes to test product quality and to provide quality inspection reports. 

In terms of innovation, the company has funded and built a layer chicken industry institute. It has worked with South China Agricultural University on technology innovation to lower production costs while maintaining product quality, as well as to enhance the level of disease prevention and control during the breeding process. 

In terms of resource recycling, the ranch adopts an automated breeding mode that is water efficient and environmentally friendly. It cooperates with other partners to recycle chicken manure or to turn it into organic fertilizer that again achieves green breeding.

The establishment of the company's chicken ranch is of great significance as a demonstration of modernized stock farming and environmental protection, as well as in contributing to the GBA's food security and helping farmers increase their incomes. 

With layer chickens breeding as its primary industry, the industrial park is the biggest automated layer chicken breeding base in Guangzhou. It will serve as a good example of forming a modern layer breeding industry. It is also significant in propelling the transformation and upgrading of agricultural production modes in Guangdong.
