Conghua holds 1st session of 3rd district people's congress
The first session of the third Conghua district people's congress opened on Oct 26.
Deputy district Party secretary and acting district head Zhao Long delivered the government work report.
Zhao reviewed major government work in Conghua, a district of Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province, over the past five years.
Focusing on the overall target of building a happy, beautiful and ecological district, Conghua has coordinated its COVID-19 prevention and control efforts with other work in economic and social development, and scored new achievements in its high-quality development, the building of an ecological civilization, rural revitalization, coordinated urban-rural development, social undertakings concerning people's livelihoods and the building of a service-oriented government.
The next five years will be the first five-year period for China to embark on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in all aspects and march toward its second centenary goal and will also be a crucial period for Conghua to achieve new development, said Zhao, adding that the district will incorporate its development into the domestic and international situations and integrate with the overall development of both Guangdong and Guangzhou, strive toward the building of "two zones and two valleys" — a prosperous and civilized rural revitalization demonstration zone at both the national and provincial levels, a comprehensive and coordinated national pilot zone of urban-rural integration development, an ecological and livable "green valley" of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and an open and sharing "wisdom valley" of innovation in the GBA — making Conghua a showcase of China's rural revitalization achievements.
Focuse will be put on implementing concepts of innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development.
Over the next five years, the district will integrate its work on epidemic prevention and control with socioeconomic development and do the utmost to carry out the following seven-point work plan, which will be to foster new strengths of economic and social growth, intensify afforestation efforts, strive toward the building of a demonstration zone of rural revitalization at both the national and provincial levels, comprehensively promote the upgrading of urban and rural development with scientific coordination, build a high-quality living place within the GBA through the consistent improvement of public well-being, deepen opening-up and reform to create a secure, stable and sound social environment, and strengthen its capacity-building in governance to build a service-oriented government with wide public recognition.
