Huang Canning, a 67-years-old local, is one of the earliest wampee growers in the village. At his orchard, the thumb-sized yellow wampee fruits are hanging from the branches – ready to be picked.

Through scientific growing techniques, Huang is enjoying a good wampee harvest this year, with an output of 15,000 kilograms. The fruit will mainly be sold to Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

Rich in vitamin C, sugar, organic acids and pectin, wampee is a neutral medicinal fruit.
