The reconstruction of Dongfeng village was launched on March 22, marking the beginning of Conghua district's village renovation program. 

The village will highlight its history and culture and ecological resources and integrate public transit with cultural tourism, rebuilding itself into an exhibition venue of Guangdong culture.

"The renovation of Dongfeng village is not only a key project of Conghua district but also an exploration of comprehensive land management and development of urban and rural integration. It is significant to the local economy, industry, ecology and history and culture, and has milestone meaning to Conghua's urban renewal," said an official of Conghua district. 

Dongfeng village is located on the west bank of the Liuxihe River, neighboring the "One River, two banks and three belts" development area which has abundant ecological resources. Yinjiazhuang in the village was listed as a Guangzhou Historical and Cultural Protection Area for its ancient trees, non-removable heritage resources and cultural scenery. There are many traffic lines connected to Dongfeng village, which makes renovation of the village convenient.

The renovation area of Dongfeng village covers 419.32 hectares, of which 103.89 hectares were newly constructed, and involves1,149 households. 

The planned construction area covers 208.85 square meters. The village is going to build seven schools including kindergartens, primary schools and middle schools, as well as a green park and a children's palace. Dongfeng village will make every effort to develop ecological agriculture, leisure tourism, health care and cultural creativity as it becomes a new landmark of Conghua's tourism and business.
