The district, which is located in low latitudes and surrounded by mountains, has a subtropical monsoon climate. The Tropic of Cancer spans Taiping town at the southern end of the district, making it pleasantly warm and rainy. In 2019, the average temperature was 22.0°C and the annual rainfall was 2,305.1 mm.
Consequently, the district has plenty of plants, including 119 cultivated plants, more than 60 oil plants, more than 200 medicinal plants, and a few dozen fiber plants. Special crop festivals for litchi, plum blossom, waxberry, Sanhua plum, bamboo shoots, sweet potatoes and red leaves have been held in the district.
