Lives thrive in Conghua

As a core ecological zone in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Conghua district of Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province, has prioritized ecological construction over the years and achieved continuous environmental and biodiversity progress.

The Liuxi River, which passes through Conghua, has nurtured not only the human, but also many other natural living entities. Rare plants including Bretschneidera sinensis, Alsophila spinulosa and Brainea insignis are found in the mountains,. National-level protected animals such as Asian golden cats, pangolins and black-winged kites also make their home here.

Statistics show Conghua is home to 1,172 species of wild plants belonging to 622 genera and 193 families, two of which are under national first-class protection. Eight more are under national second-class protection. Conghua has 161 species of terrestrial wild animals, two of which are national first-class protected species and 10 of which are second-class protected species.
