Conghua Library wins 2021 Active House Award
The Conghua Library won second prize in the vocational category of the 2021 Active House Award China competition, according to a recent official release.
Conghua Library is located by the Liuxi River greenway, which runs through the city. Its design is based on characteristic spaces from traditional Lingnan architecture, such as arcades, alleys, courtyards and water surfaces, and also features modern architectural techniques such as platform retreating, three-dimensional greening and façade shading.
The Active House Award was launched in 2016 and was held for four years until 2019 with participation from over 100 countries. In 2020, the Architectural Society of China issued the Active House Evaluation Standard, which was used in the Active House Award China competition initiated in the same year by the Active House Alliance, aiming to explore a universal, simple and sustainable future of the architecture industry in China.
Hosted by Active House Alliance, the competition was divided into a vocational category and student category.
