Canton Fair takes 'low-carbon' a priority
On Oct 17, a series of activities under the theme of Green Space were held during the 130th China Import and Export Fair, or the Canton Fair, to reward companies that have won the top 10 solutions for the optimization of this year's booths and the green stands at the 126th Canton Fair.
The winners are invited to make speeches and drive all parties to participate in the green development of the Canton Fair.
Zhang Sihong, deputy secretary-general of the Canton Fair and deputy director of the China Foreign Trade Center, Wang Guiqing, deputy head of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, Zhang Xinmin, deputy head of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles, Zhu Dan, deputy director of the Anhui Provincial Department of Commerce, attended the event and presented awards to the winning companies. Approximately 100 representatives from various trading groups, business associations and award-winning companies attended the event.
Zhang said in his speech that the Canton Fair should play a demonstrative and leading role in promoting the green development of the exhibition industry, serving the country's dual carbon targets and building an ecological civilization.
This year's Canton Fair regards the dual carbon goals of serving carbon peaks and carbon neutrality as the guiding principle, and promotes the green development of the Canton Fair as the top priority. It organizes more green and low-carbon products to participate in the exhibition and enhances the green development of the entire chain of the exhibition.
He said that the Canton Fair has been committed to setting a benchmark in the convention and exhibition industry and strengthening standardization.
It has applied for the preparation of three national standards: Guidelines for Evaluation of Green Booths, Basic Requirements for Exhibition Venue Safety Management and Guidelines for Green Exhibition Operation.
Canton Fair will also build the new model of the Zero Carbon Exhibition Hall, with the help of low-carbon environmental protection technology and energy-saving operation concepts to build the fourth phase of the Canton Fair Pavilion project.
At the same time, it will start to plan the exhibition design competition to further enhance the exhibitors' green display awareness, and boost the Canton Fair's green development quality.
Zhang said green development is a long-term and arduous task, which must be sustained for a long time.
The Canton Fair will work hand in hand with various trading delegations, business associations, exhibitors and special construction companies and other related parties to implement the concept of green development, and jointly promote the sustainable development of China's exhibition industry and achieve the "3060 Carbon Targets".
