Unlike the common dragon fruit type, which is red when it is ripe, the skin of this type stays green. The inside flesh is white and has a milky taste, which makes it popular among customers.

The green dragon fruits are available for pickup from June through December. Three batches can be picked within a month.

Luo Huimei, owner of the orchard, started growing dragon fruit in 2003 as one of the first dragon fruit growers in the village. There are now almost 10 dragon fruit varieties in her orchard. 2021 was a big harvest year for the dragon fruit in her orchard with a yield of about 3,000 kilograms per mu.

Due to the large yield, the orchard hires villagers for picking and management jobs. It is a popular job for locals, as they can work near their families.
