Special Games' track and field events conclude in Tianhe
The six-day track and field competition of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games concluded at the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center on Dec 14.
During the finals of the women's and men's 10,000-meter hearing-impaired events, over 22,000 spectators cheered passionately for the athletes. Attendees, such as teachers and students, noted the determination shown by athletes, while volunteers expressed pride in contributing to such a meaningful and impactful event.
Throughout the competition, sports representatives, including Su Bingtian, Liang Xiaojing, Peng Cuiting, Chen Guanfeng, and Zhong Delun, visited the venue to show their support.
From accessibility renovations before the events to comprehensive medical support, efficient volunteer services, and smooth event execution during the competition, the organizing committee adhered to the principles of "equality, participation, sharing, and integration". The services provided a platform for athletes with disabilities to demonstrate their abilities and perseverance.
