The Tianhe lion dance from Guangzhou is set to be a highlight of the opening ceremony for the 15th National Games, which kicks off on Nov 9 in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

The performance team is now in the final rehearsal stage at the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center.

The opening ceremony will showcase rich cultural traditions, including lion dance, Cantonese Opera, and Qilin dance. Through modern artistic techniques and technological means, it will present the unique charm of Lingnan culture.

Lyu Lina, president of the Guangzhou Tianhe Dragon and Lion Dance Sports Association, said that the lion dance movements represent a blend of traditional culture and contemporary spirit.

Under the theme "Dreaming of the Future", the opening ceremony is a joint production by the three host regions. Further details regarding the stage design and the torch-lighting ceremony remain under wraps.
