Tianhe Smart City grows as innovation engine

Recently, Tianhe district published its economic performance report for the first half of 2025. The region's GDP amounted to 347.96 billion yuan ($48.2 billion), marking a 3.6 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Key industries showed robust growth, with emerging productivity gaining momentum.

Between January and June, Tianhe Science and Technology Park generated 156.1 billion yuan in revenue, while Tianhe Smart City reported 76.86 billion yuan. Their revenues increased by 5.6 percent and 19.7 percent, respectively.

The Tianhe Software Park generated 93.71 billion yuan in software business revenue, reflecting a 6.6 percent year-on-year increase.

Leading companies increased their innovation initiatives. Industrial software leader ZWSOFT will relocate to its new headquarters in Tianhe Intelligence Valley, and its overseas revenue is projected to grow by over 25 percent this year.

Companies like Fantoft and XPeng also inaugurated new headquarters, fostering industrial clusters. With 36 firms in the Tianhe Smart City, the low-altitude economy sector saw revenue surpassing 5 billion yuan, up nearly 10 percent.

Construction at the Smart City has accelerated, with 22 key projects valued at a total investment of 16.36 billion yuan. More than 300,000 square meters of new R&D space, including facilities for ZWSOFT and Xpeng, are scheduled for completion in the second half of the year.
