"Grasping technological innovation means grasping the decisive variable for modernization," said Xu Weixin, president of the China Institute for Innovation & Development Strategy.

He noted that thanks to breakthroughs in emerging technologies, the GBA has given rise to leading tech enterprises like BYD, XPeng Motors, EHang, and DJI, with new energy vehicles and AI gaining momentum.

Huang Qifan, executive vice chairman of the Academic Committee at the same institute, proposed that the development of new productive forces in the GBA requires the construction of a "1+10" industrial chain cluster model. This approach places advanced manufacturing as the core, supported by 10 key categories of productive service industries.
