Tianhe bridge grabs German Design Award
The Haixin Bridge, situated in the Zhujiang New Town of Tianhe district, was honored as the winner of the German Design Award in the Urban Space and Infrastructure category.
The German Design Award, renowned for its significant competitiveness and global influence, is a prestigious recognition within the modern design sector. Established in 1969, this esteemed award ceremony takes place biennially.

Haixin Bridge is the first pedestrian bridge across the Pearl River in Guangzhou, linking the Ersha Island Art Park and the Canton Tower.
The Haixin Bridge boasts a total length of 488 meters, with its central arch extending over 198 meters and a maximum bridge deck width of 15 meters, making it the pedestrian bridge with the broadest span and width in the world, characterized by its skew-arch and curved-beam design.

Since its completion, the bridge has achieved several accolades, including the 2022 "Outstanding Pedestrian Bridge" shortlist award from the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), the sole gold award in the 2023 World Pedestrian Bridge Award, and the sole silver award in the 2023 World Architecture News (WAN) Awards.
