Guangzhou's innovation hub: Tianhe leads way
The State Council's recent approval of the "Guangzhou Territorial Spatial Master Plan (2021-35)" is said to have well and truly set the stage for Guangzhou – capital of South China's Guangdong province – to become a pivotal international technology innovation center.
At the heart of the transformation is Tianhe district. It's poised to develop a central innovation hub anchored by the core area and the Tianhe Intelligence Valley area of Tianhe Smart City.

PCI Technology Group – a company with deep roots in Tianhe – has transformed over the past 30 years from an IT distribution firm into a leader in artificial intelligence.
Liu Jia, senior vice president, attributes much of this success to the unique environment of Tianhe Smart City. According to Liu, the area offers unparalleled market opportunities, a concentration of talent and comprehensive support services.
The nurturing ecosystem is believed to have enabled the company to thrive and achieve win-win outcomes through collaboration with other local enterprises.
Meanwhile, the recent topping out of tech group Zwsoft headquarters in Tianhe Smart City is seen as marking yet another step forwards in the district's innovation journey.
As the first domestic industrial design software provider to g list its shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, ZWSOFT aims to leverage its presence in Tianhe to further expand its business globally.
"With roots in Tianhe, we are poised to lay out a global strategy," says Zi Yingkun, vice president and board secretary of ZWSOFT.
