Build-out starts at hospitals in Tianhe

Two major medical projects – the Tianhe branch of the Hospital of Stomatology of Sun Yat-sen University and the Sun Yat-sen University Medical Oncology Scientific Center – recently started construction in Tianhe district of Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province.

The Tianhe branch of the Hospital of Stomatology of Sun Yat-sen University will occupy a floor space of 25,000 square meters and involve a total investment of 1.3 billion yuan ($179.46 million).

Designed as a third-grade hospital, which ranks at the top of China's three-tier hospital grading system, the hospital will set up 280 patient treatment tables. It is scheduled to open in May 2025 and will handle around 500,000 outpatients annually.

The hospital will also feature a dental medical treatment and scientific center integrating treatment, teaching, and research and is expected to become an important part of the national regional dental medical center network.

The Sun Yat-sen University Medical Oncology Scientific Center will cost 3.07 billion yuan and have a floor space of some 300,000 sq m. Located adjacent to the Huolu and Fenghuang mountains, it will aim to offer a great healing environment.

The center is designed to have 1,500 beds and is scheduled to open in January 2028.
