Tianhe CBD ranked 3rd nationwide

The Tianhe central business district (CBD) ranked third nationwide in the CBD competitiveness evaluation, right behind the Beijing CBD and the Shanghai Lujiazui CBD. This was released by China Forbes on Nov 28.

The Tianhe CBD has a planned area of 20 square kilometers, of which 12 sq km has been built up and 8 sq km is still under construction. In 2022, the Tianhe CBD realized a GDP of 358.79 billion yuan ($50.46 billion).

It has now developed a modern industrial system that is led by the headquarters economy, supported by the digital economy and building economy, and dominated by the strong industries, such as finance, modern business and trade, and high-end professional services.

The added value of the Tianhe CBD's modern service industry is 281 billion yuan, accounting for 15.5 percent of Guangzhou's total.

There are nearly 20,000 digital service enterprises in the Tianhe CBD, making it one of the most developed areas for the digital economy and service trade sectors in Guangdong province.

Additionally, there are 124 commercial buildings in the Tianhe CBD, with a total floor area of more than 14 million sq meters and an occupancy rate of 91.3 percent. By the end of 2022, some 86 buildings had tax contributions worth more than 100 million yuan each.
