Guangzhou Metro to extend service hours for National Day holiday
On the National Day (October 1), Guangzhou Metro is expected to see about 7.7 million passenger trips, and during the seven-day holiday (October 1 to 7) around 7 million per day on average. To benefit residents' traveling during the holiday, all Guangzhou Metro lines will operate for one more hour on September 30 and October 1.
On October 4, Line 2 (from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Jiahewanggang) will extend service time by one hour. During the extended service period, fast trains will stop at Luoxi, Changgang, Gongyuanqian, Guangzhou Railway Station and Jiahewanggang, and at these station passengers can only get off the train. From October 5 to 7, line 1, 2, 3 (the north extension included), 5 and 7 will operate for one more hour.
In order to increase capacity, from 12:00 to 20:30, the fast trains of Line 14 will also be replaced with regular trains.
On September 28, a new fast train was launched on Guangzhou Metro line 18. The train will stop at Modiesha station, in addition to the original four stops ——Wanqingsha, Hengli, Panyu Square and Xiancun stations. It will take passengers 10 less minutes from Wanqingsha to Modiesha, according to Guangzhou Metro.
Also, from September 27, passengers in Guangzhou and Zhengzhou can use their respective Metro apps to pay for rides when taking the metro in both cities. Zhengzhou is the 11th city with which Guangzhou has joined hands to achieve mutual recognition of payment via QR codes, after Shanghai, Chongqing, Beijing, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Nanchang, Nanjing, Chengdu, Xi'an and Nanning.
Highways will be toll-free for small passenger cars with no more than 7 seats during the 7-day National Day holiday.
People entering terminals of Baiyun International Airport, whether they are departing from the airport or coming to pick up or see off their relatives and friends, must show their negative PCR test result within 48 hours, swipe their ID cards at the entrance to show their health codes and take temperature checks.
Between September 10 and October 31, negative PCR test result is required when entering Guangzhou South Railway Station.
Residents are advised to spend the holiday in Guangdong. We encourage residents to travel in the surrounding suburbs or enjoy a staycation inside the city during the National Day holiday. Residents are encouraged to stay put and refrain from cross-provincial travel if possible.
Residents should avoid trips to prefectures (cities, districts) with medium- or high-risk areas, and unessential travel to municipalities with medium- or high-risk areas. People who have been to prefectures (cities, districts) with medium- or high-risk areas are subject to certain travel restrictions – two negative PCR test reports within 48 hours (the two tests must be taken 24 hours apart) and a green health code are required for essential travel. Residents who have travelled to another city in Guangdong Province must conduct two tests within three days upon returning to Guangzhou.
A green health code and a negative PCR test result within 72 hours must be presented upon entering inns, hotels and tourist attractions, including parks. The requirement will be in place till the end of October.
Residents who must travel to another province should hold a negative PCR test result within 48 hours before boarding flights, high-speed trains, trains, inter-provincial coaches and inter-provincial boats.
