5G flag stops bring convenience to Tianhe residents
The nation's first 5G flag stop at Chebei South metro station was put into operation in May 2020, while an average of 4,339 passengers were transported on 946 buses per month in 2021, bringing more travel convenience to Tianhe residents.
Compared with the traditional passenger stations, a flag stop is a legal and flexible guest dispensing point that is set at subway entrances in the city center, commercial centers, communities, and bus terminals that have a high number of mobile people.

Mr Xie, who lives near Tiyu West Road, has been frequently travelling to Shenzhen for work and chooses to take the Guangzhou-Shenzhen passenger line at the Tiyu West Road metro station flag stop. “The flag stop is just at the subway entrance, making it more convenient to travel to Shenzhen. I can also walk home after returning to Guangzhou," he said.
Through the application of 5G technology, the on-site video monitoring can be transmitted back in real time to master traffic and passenger flow, achieving scientific and effective scheduling, as well as bolstering safety management. The vehicle-mounted safety driver assistance system can also carry out monitoring on the drivers' physical conditions and driving status.
It is also required that the interval between departures shall not be less than 10 minutes during rush hours.
