Tianhe continues to be happiest urban area in China
In 2020, Tianhe district retained the title of the "happiest urban area in China". This is not only due to improvements in the living environment, but also due to social undertakings related to education, elderly care and medical care.
Since the start of this year, Tianhe has built 14 pocket parks in the Tianhe central business district (CBD), helping form an ecological green corridor with a total green area of more than 1.2 million square meters.
"A pocket park is just downstairs, making the environment clean and beautiful," said a Tianhe resident.

Tianhe has been promoting the construction of 48 transportation projects, most of which are located in the eastern and northern parts of the district. It aims to drive development in the areas through road construction.
In addition, four schools, including the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area School of the Tsinghua University High School and the Tianhe campus of Guangzhou Zhixin High School, were put into operation on Sept 1, contributing to the balanced development of education in the district.
Furthermore, construction on 21 nursing institutions for the elderly is nearly complete, and most of them have already been put into operation. The institutions can provide one-stop and home-to-home comprehensive care services such as rehabilitation nursing, living care, assisted feeding, and day care.
A 64-year-old man surnamed Zhou is a regular visitor to the Tianhe South Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. "There is a canteen for the elderly in the center, and it is fun to chat with other elderly people and engage in hobbies like calligraphy and painting," said Zhou.
