Since the beginning of this year, Tianhe district in Guangzhou has created 61,056 new jobs, and helped 10,359 registered unemployed people and 4,150 people with difficulty in gaining employment.

To help people with difficulty in finding jobs, the Tianhe bureau of human resources and social security set up service windows to provide them with free policy consultation, employment information, and career guidance services. Public service jobs were also created for them.

The 50-plus-year-old A Tai had difficulty finding a job and integrating back into society after he overcame his drug addiction. Jian Yanling, director of the integrated service center of the Zhuji neighborhood, helped him find work as a traffic instructor, a public service job created by the neighborhood.

"Now I live a full life every day and am contributing to society," said A Tai.

Li Qinglun also had difficulty in finding a regular job due to his lack of skills. "I could only do odd jobs on construction sites and my income was not stable," said Li.

A staff member of the Yuancun neighborhood knew of Li's situation and told him to join the "Cantonese Cuisine Chef" course, which was launched by the Tianhe bureau of human resources and social security to provide free vocational skills training.

"We studied theory first, and then put it into practice. Each process has supervisory personnel to ensure the quality of our training," said Li, adding that the teachers also set up WeChat groups to do job recommendations.

"Now I'm a chef in a major hotel. My monthly income has grown a lot," said Li.

To help college graduates find jobs, the bureau held 28 job fairs and several online recruitment activities for them.

Xiao Wen, a graduate of the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, joined a securities company through a livestream, which was conducted to introduce companies, positions, salary and welfare, and allowed people to submit resumes and schedule an HR interview online.

In addition, the bureau assigned service specialists to college graduates from impoverished families to provide one-to-one employment services. By December 2021, it had served 1,124 college graduates from Guangzhou, with a 100-percent service rate.
