The opening ceremony for the 2021 Guangzhou International Innovation Festival was held, both physically and virtually, at the International Guangzhou Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Tianhe Base on Dec 20.

Initiated in 2016, the Guangzhou International Innovation Festival has promoted exchanges of advanced innovative ideas and facilitated the commercialization of a large number of high-quality innovative achievements and projects, becoming a brand event of the city.

Experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, and innovative and entrepreneurship representatives from around the world gathered to discuss the collaborative innovation among industries, universities and research institutes, and the commercialization and application of innovative achievements.

The Tianhe District Innovation Consortium was set up at the opening ceremony to make explorations of the collaborative innovation by bringing together enterprises, academia, and research institutes. Five industrial innovation consortia were also established for industrial software, IT application innovation, artificial intelligence, urban industries, and healthcare big data.

In addition, the district awarded the six featured incubators that had made achievements in the transformation and upgrading of scientific innovation. These include the Hongtai Cloud Industry Incubator and the Guangzhou Information Port.

The white paper on the digital transformation achievements of Guangzhou's characteristic industrial clusters was also released to explore the new trend of the digital development of industries in Guangzhou, along with the 5G action plan for Tianhe district.

The festival will last until Dec 22 carrying out a variety of activities like the innovative product exhibition, the Guangzhou T-Hero International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition finale, and the fifth Tianhe Talent Culture Festival.
