The shortlist of demonstration counties and districts for the building of the Peaceful China initiative for the 2017-20 period was recently published on the official website of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee. The final list will be determined after Dec 6.

Tianhe district in Guangzhou made the list.

To effectively solve social contradictions and ensure safe and orderly urban operation, the district has built an online platform for resolving disputes, developed an integrated platform for handling financial cases, and promoted the construction of social psychological counseling rooms in Huangcun and Shipai villages.

To date, the district has built social psychological counseling rooms in all 21 of its neighborhoods and 233 communities and established 2,728 minimum emergency response units, helping to ensure social security.

The district has also been promoting the construction of comprehensive command and dispatch platforms in communities and neighborhoods to optimize the handling of police affairs.

In 2020, the Tianhe District People's Court accepted 94,500 cases of various types, and settled 77,800 cases, with a case settlement rate of 82.4 percent. It was awarded as a national model court.

The Tianhe District People's Procuratorate handled 8,521 cases of various types in 2020, and was awarded as an advanced publicity unit of national procuratorate organs. The number of calls to the police related to criminals has decreased for eight consecutive years.
