The planning for the Tianhe second cotton mill parcel was passed at the Regional Planning and Urban Design Professional Committee of Guangzhou City Planning Commission on Oct 27. An artificial intelligence (AI) industrial park will be built on the parcel.

The parcel is located in Guangzhou International Financial City, the central urban area of Tianhe district. It connects with surrounding areas via the Huanan Express, Huacheng Avenue, and Metro Line 5.

Covering a combined floor area of 84,600 square meters, the parcel currently has buildings like workshops, warehouses, dormitories, and support spaces. The Bauhaus-style buildings on the east side of the parcel have been included in the third batch of historical buildings in Guangzhou with a construction area of 23,161 sq m.

The AI industrial park that is planned to be built on the parcel will focus on three fields: AI computing hardware, AI industrial applications, and AI intelligent equipment. Its final architectural design is scheduled to be determined through an international competition.

In addition, the buildings with historical meanings on the parcel will be preserved and used for creative office space and creative experiences to take advantage of the buildings' economic benefits.
