The 2021 International Vertical Marathon Open kicked off in the Guangzhou CTF Finance Center, which is also known as the Canton East Tower, in Tianhe district on Oct 10.

The Guangzhou CTF Finance Center has a vertical height of 530 meters with 109 floors and 3,160 steps, and is the highest building in Guangzhou.

The winner of the men's group finished the competition in 18 minutes and 44 seconds while the winner of the women's group crossed the finish line at 21 minutes and 33 seconds.

Since 2016, the International Vertical Marathon Open has been a featured sports event in Tianhe district, promoting the development of all types of sports.

This year's competition took strict epidemic prevention and control measures to ensure the safety of participants with volunteers and medical rescue teams on stand-by along the staircase of the marathon route.
