The 10th Tianhe district congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) commenced on Sept 27, and reported the district's achievements during the past five years as well as set goals for the next five years.

In 2020, Tianhe's regional GDP was 531.28 billion yuan ($82.25 billion), accounting for 21.2 percent of Guangzhou's total and ranking first in the city for 14 consecutive years. The added value of the district's modern service industry made up 70 percent of its GDP.

Tianhe had 590,000 market entities by the end of 2020, which is 1.7 times that in 2015. It had 2,995 national high-tech enterprises, and 3,378 enterprises had been selected into the national sci-tech small and medium-sized enterprise cultivation tank. Both types of enterprises ranked first in Guangzhou.

During the past five years, a total of 343,000 new jobs were created in the district, 14 pocket parks were built, and 30 rivers were cleaned.

In the next five years, Tianhe will pioneer a high-quality modern service industry and become a model of the modern international business environment.
