Tianhe ranks as safest district in Guangzhou
Tianhe district ranked first in terms of city safety among all the 11 districts in Guangzhou, according to the city's recent announcement. It has been the safest district in Guangzhou for seven consecutive years.
Many Tianhe residents recently have noticed that blue "business cards” with "minimum emergency unit" written on them and the telephone number of the nearest police station have been posted in communities, schools and shopping malls. They are used to encourage people to join in the maintenance of public security, and make people feel safer.
The minimum emergency unit is the smallest group of personnel formed by relevant safety units who are able to handle emergencies promptly and assist the public security organizations in handling all kinds of ongoing illegal and criminal acts.
Since Tianhe's 2,728 minimal emergency units were established in June, they have assisted the public security organizations in handling 12 incidents including arresting one criminal suspect, assisting in the arrest of 10 criminal suspects and rescuing one injured person.
In addition, psychological service rooms have been set up in the district's Huangcun and Shipai neighborhoods to solve issues.
The Huangcun psychological service room has helped solve 12 residents' problems since March, and the Shipai room has provided services for 47 people since April.
"Thanks to the timely service at the Huangcun psychological service room, the staff helped solve the problems that had troubled me for many years, and restore a harmonious and warm atmosphere in my home," a Huangcun resident said.
