Tianhe nice choice for global enterprises
Nearly 20 enterprises from Tianhe district, Guangzhou attended the 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), which was held at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing from Sept 2 to 7.
Themed on "digital empowerment, cultural integration, innovation and breakthrough," the district displayed its innovative development achievements in digital services and cultural exports.
Tianhe has two national key platforms for service trade, the national digital service export base and the national cultural export base. The district has the most developed modern services industry and the most concentrated headquarters enterprises in Guangzhou.
The Tianhe central business district (CBD) became a national digital service export base in 2020, being the only one of its kind in Guangdong province and the only CBD that won such an honor in China.
In 2020, the GDP of Tianhe CBD exceeded 300 billion yuan ($46.41 billion), an increase of 3.8 percent year on year. It has 120 headquarters enterprises and 124 commercial buildings, with a combined floorage of over 14 million square meters.
The digital service industry is developing rapidly in the Tianhe CBD, with over 20,000 science and technology enterprises and over 700 national high-tech enterprises. Four enterprises made the list of top 100 internet companies in China in 2020.
The total volume of service trade in the Tianhe CBD in 2020 was $1.34 billion, up 4.4 percent year on year, and the first two quarters of this year totaled $806 million, a year-on-year increase of 21.2 percent.
Tianhe has the largest concentration of the gaming industry in China, with the gaming industry revenue accounting for about 40 percent of the country. The national cultural export base in the district has been highlighting the development of the digital cultural creative industry, gaming and e-sports.
In 2020, the district had 747 cultural industry legal entities above designed size and the revenue of the cultural industry reached 163.39 billion yuan, making up 26.5 percent and 40.6 percent of Guangzhou's total, respectively.
In 2021, nine enterprises and projects in Tianhe were selected as key enterprises and projects for national cultural export for the 2021-22 period, accounting for 60 percent of the total number in Guangzhou.
