On Aug 19, an area in Wushan neighborhood in Tianhe district was adjusted to an area under alert management after seven days of controlled management.

An area will be put under controlled management if it is a residence, workplace, activity or the surrounding area where there has been a COVID-19 case reported or where there are close contacts. People are only allowed to get into the area instead of getting out. All the residents in the area shall have a nucleic acid test on the first, fourth and seventh days, and if there are no new cases in the seven days, the area will be adjusted to an area under alert management.

People in an area under alert management are only allowed to commute between homes and workplaces, and are required not to leave the area unless have to. All the residents in the area shall have a nucleic acid test every 24 hours, and if there are no new cases in 14 days, the area will be decontrolled.

The area in the Wushan neighborhood became an area under controlled management due to a student surnamed Zheng, who flew back to Guangzhou from the UK on July 24 and was later found to be infected with the Delta variant.
