Huachenghui (Mall of the World), in Zhujiang New Town, is the perfect place to find a nice restaurant, with many of its restaurants being featured on lists of top local places to eat. Locals could eat out every night for a month and never eat at the same place twice.

In the evenings, many office staff who get off work like to go to the Haixinsha Asian Games theme park to go on a run or take a walk and relax.

A new cross-river pedestrian bridge, the Haixin Bridge, was opened last month, connecting Ersha Island and Haizhu district of Guangzhou. Now that the bridge has opened, people are able to walk directly from Huacheng Square to the Canton Tower.

As night falls, people disperse in every direction to go home.

For those living in Zhujiang New Town, they can walk home and enjoy the bright lights from office buildings, watch the constantly changing advertisements of Canton Tower, and observe people running through the town. While those who live further afield can hop on the subway to return home to the outskirts of the city.

Despite the fatigue caused by commuting, there’s a real sense of progress and the tiredness will not stop them from moving forward.
