Huacheng Square, the “balanced place”, is the exact opposite of the high-pressured and fast-paced working environment of Tianhe CBD. The flowers, grass and birds in the square provide an outstanding contrast to the glass buildings, while the slow pace of the elderly and children is the antithesis of the haste of the office workers.

Known as the urban hall of Guangzhou, Huacheng Square has a green space covering 400,000 square meters and boasts more than 600 trees. The square brings vitality to the concrete jungle.

Here, you can not only see CBD workers in suits, but also pedestrians in their casual clothes.

Moreover, the buildings in Huacheng Square are distributed symmetrically: Guangzhou Opera House stands opposite the Guangdong Museum, and Guangzhou Library faces Guangzhou No.2 Children’s Palace.

The Opera House, designed by Zaha Hadid, looks odd in appearance, just like two pieces of gravel washed ashore on the Pearl River.

In 2019, the play "Pingtan Impression" starring renowned Chinese dancer Yang Liping, was staged at the Opera House. The play was so popular that it was near impossible to get a ticket.

Enriching their spiritual world is also something that workers here like to do. Aside from watching dramas at the Opera House, some people like to read in the library, while others explore art exhibitions in the museum.
