Tianhe’s GDP expected to reach $108 billion by 2025

The gross domestic product (GDP) of Tianhe district, Guangzhou, is expected to reach 700 billion yuan ($108 billion) in 2025, with an annual growth rate of about 6 percent, according to the district's outline for its 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and its Long-Range Targets for 2035, which were released recently.
Tianhe will speed up its efforts in developing artificial intelligence (AI), its digital economy and urban renewal, with the goal of building the district into the economic engine and innovation hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to the long-term targets.
The district will also make efforts to build itself into a world-class central area of vitality and a model district of modernization by 2035.
In addition, more efforts will be made to boost the industries of finance, new-generation information technology, modern business, high-end professional service and the modern urban industry.
Tianhe will stick to developments driven by innovation in order to bolster Guangzhou’s overall technological innovation construction.
The district will also strive to be the top destination for global companies to invest in and the best place for talents to develop their careers during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
Moreover, 345 major construction projects are being planned by 2025, including 30 projects for public well-being, with investment totaling over 151.9 billion yuan. The projects cover areas ranging from education, health care, culture and sports to public security.
