Thanks to the policy of providing living subsidies to young people from Hong Kong who work in the Greater Bay Area, four young Hong Kong people are entitled to receive 72,000 yuan ($11,146) as living allowance and the first payment of 10,000 yuan was approved on July 7, according to the Guangzhou Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security.
This is the first such payment in Guangdong, which is believed to help young people from the special administrative region better integrate into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
To attract young Hong Kong graduates, Guangdong rolled out a plan in June to offer young employees from Hong Kong a monthly living allowance of no more than 1,000 yuan for up to 18 months.
Moreover, the Guangzhou bureau promises to further simplify procedures for the subsidy application and plans to pilot a new method allowing people to renew continuous service contracts without the need for a second application.
