A financial training program co-hosted by the Tianhe CBD Administration Committee and the UK Department for International Trade was held on May 18 in Guangzhou’s Tianhe district.

The program aims to further promote green development and green finance in Guangzhou. Learning from the advanced experience of other countries practicing green finance, the city expects to achieve high-quality development of green finance.

More than 200 middle and senior executives from Guangzhou’s financial institutions such as Guangzhou future exchange and the Bank of Guangzhou attended the training. Experts from China and abroad analyzed the financial policies of Tianhe and discussed frontier issues of green finance during the training.

Optimizing the business environment has been the long-term and fundamental task of Tianhe district. As the district’s leading industry, finance enjoys its major preferential policies.    

For example, a maximum of 30 million yuan ($4.7 million) will be given to newly licensed financial institutions with paid-in capital of more than 200 million yuan.

As for policies to attract global high-end talents, Tianhe pledges to give out 160 million yuan every year to talented personnel. Newly brought in international high-end talents can be awarded up to 10 million yuan and the financial support will in the first place be given to the industries of finance, artificial intelligence and the digital economy.  

Moreover, Tianhe vows to provide a series of supporting measures to help urgently needed talents get residence permits, talent green cards, talent apartments and school enrolment for their children.
