Guangzhou to strengthen intl cooperation in green development
The mayors of cities in China and the European Union held an online meeting on March 24 in which they discussed a "green and inclusive" recovery.
Lin Daoping, vice mayor of Guangzhou, was invited to deliver a speech during the session.
Lin said that the city will further implement its carbon emission reduction action plan on the basis of national strategic deployment and in keeping with the concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity.
Guangzhou will take an active role in participating in international exchanges and cooperation and jointly exploring effective methods of urban green and inclusive development, in order to realize the sustainable development goals of the United Nations and make contributions to create a more beautiful world, Lin said.
The event was co-hosted by the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and the Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development of Tsinghua University.
Attendees of the event also included Eric Garcetti, the C40 president and the mayor of Los Angeles and representatives from cities such as Guangzhou, Shanghai, Heidelberg in Germany, and Lisbon in Portugal.
