In the five years since China's plan for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was published, the region's economic output has increased from 10 trillion yuan ($1.38 trillion) to more than 13.6 trillion yuan.
Two new intercity railways linking the cities of Guangzhou, Foshan and Dongguan in Guangdong province were put into use on Sunday, redefining regional travel with their unique subway-style operation and enabling flexible commutes between key cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Four major intercity rail lines are set to be interconnected, enhancing regional transportation links across five key cities: Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing, Dongguan, and Huizhou.
Guangdong province is accelerating the connection of rules, regulations and mechanisms with the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions to further promote the deep and integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
