Guangzhou enterprises showcase prowess in Paris Olympics

Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office | Updated:2024-08-15

As the Paris Olympics drew to a close, Guangzhou-based enterprises have showcased their prowess in innovation and craftsmanship, contributing the "Guangzhou Force" to the success of the global sporting event.

Beyond the arenas, these enterprises have seized the business opportunities presented by the Olympics, actively expanding overseas and enhancing the brand influence of "Made in Guangzhou." Among them, Guangzhou Healy Apparel Co., Ltd. (Hwaly) from Junhe subdistrict in Baiyun district, has embraced the "enormous prosperity" stemming from the Paris Olympics.

Specializing in sportswear production, Healy has firmly established itself in the foreign trade sector through its quick-turnaround small orders and flexible customization capabilities, providing premium customized sportswear to over 3,000 professional sports teams worldwide and long-serving as the official supplier of complete sports equipment for top-tier football leagues in Asia and Europe.

From January to June 2024, Healy witnessed a 70 percent year-on-year increase in store traffic on Alibaba.com's international platform, with its customized Olympic-themed apparel for French and Kuwaiti local brands becoming a highlight.

According to company officials, leveraging its flexible customization strategy, Healy started with customized cheerleading T-shirts and swiftly gained market favor, resulting in a surge in orders. The exported Olympic-related products included sportswear, sports backpacks, sports water bottles, among others, significantly boosting the company's international brand recognition.

Healy believes that large-scale sporting events are not solely the domain of major sportswear brands like Adidas and Nike. Small and medium-sized sportswear manufacturers can also carve out new growth avenues by offering customized event apparel to overseas clients.

Since 2022, Healy's business on Alibaba.com's international platform has grown over tenfold, with monthly valid business opportunities reaching 6,000 to 8,000.

Data from Alibaba.com's international platform indicates that since April this year, the number of newly registered Guangdong-based merchants has increased by 30 percent year-on-year, underscoring the robust momentum of Guangdong enterprises tapping into the global market amidst major sporting events.
