Haizhu district in Guangzhou held an event on Dec 22 to announce that the district will be built into a benchmark area for international consumption.

In March this year, an implementation plan was proposed to turn Haizhu district into an international consumption city. Part of that plan includes upgrading the Canton Tower-Pazhou into a world-class business district and expanding five regional business districts, including the Haizhu Wetland Area.

The Canton Tower-Pazhou business district will be upgraded to accommodate gastronomic tourism, fashion, and entertainment, as well as international exhibitions. This will create an integrated business district in which culture, commerce, and tourism promote each other.

With Canton Tower South Square as the focus, the business district is committed to becoming a characteristic tourist destination because of its integrated development of cultural tourism and commerce. At the same time, Pazhou is designed to become a super business district that focuses on international fashion trends.

The business sector within the district will develop the district's tax-free economy and night economy, as well as attract global enterprises to debut products in Guangzhou.

On the same day, the Haizhu government and more than 10 enterprises, including the Canton Tower Cultural Tourism Development Group, signed a cooperation framework agreement to build Canton Tower-Pazhou into a world-class business circle.
