The Guangzhou International Fashion Industry Conference will be held in Guangzhou from Dec 4 to 5, officials announced during a press conference on Dec 1.

The conference is expected to help cultivate local fashion brands and expand the scale of fashion consumption.

Lin Guoqiang, deputy director of the Guangzhou municipal commerce bureau, said that the event will include activities, such as a conference, the main forum, a show for youth original brands, and an awards ceremony. Documents like the three-year action plan for turning Guangzhou into a city of fashion from 2020 to 2022, as well as plans for fashion activities in Guangzhou in 2021 will also be released during the conference.

"Currently, Guangzhou is establishing a fashion communication platform, encouraging top designers to launch their latest works in Guangzhou by forging relationships with world famous fashion cities including London, Paris, New York, and Milan," added Lin.

"Guangzhou will push forward the deep integration of the fashion industry and the new generation of information technology, such as 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), industrial internet, blockchain, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence to upgrade the industry level," said Lin.
