Guangzhou sees robust growth in foreign trade in Q1-3

The handling capacity of both cargo and containers of Guangzhou Port Group has achieved positive year-on-year growth in the first three quarters of 2020.

Guangzhou Port has seen a year-on-year increase of 1.9 percent in its cargo handling capacity to 3.95 billion metric tons, while its container handling capacity climbed by 1.5 percent to 15.83 million 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

The import and export volume of Guangzhou to ASEAN countries amounted to 112.9 billion yuan ($17.16 billion) in the first three quarters, up 25.9 percent year-on-year, while the overall volume to countries and regions alongside the Belt and Road reached 190.85 billion yuan, increasing by 15.3 percent year-on-year.

The import and export volume of Guangzhou's cross-border e-commerce, which ranks first in China, has grown by 16.7 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters.
