The comprehensive bonded zone of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has achieved an overall import and export cargo value of 7.13 billion yuan ($1.01 billion) in the first five months of 2020, up 12.9 percent year-over-year.
It is expected that the cargo value will exceed 100 billion yuan by 2022 and the prime operating revenue of companies in the zone will reach 20 billion yuan, making the zone an ideal place for global cross-border e-commerce.
Feng Zhijian, deputy director of the administrative committee of the Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone, said that the construction of an international hub port for cross-border e-commerce in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has been pushed forward.
The port will be divided into three areas with different functions, namely bonded logistics, trade and exhibition, as well as headquarters service.
Guangzhou airport economy zone has been one of the major growth poles of the city's economic development, clustering industries spanning aviation maintenance and manufacturing, aviation logistics, cross-border e-commerce, aviation headquarters, aircraft leasing, as well as general aviation.
